Driver Crashes into Reseda Home Following Police Chase
A police chase ended when the suspect crashed into a house in Reseda, according to KABC.
The chase started on the Ventura Freeway. Police tried to pull over a Honda at about 12:30 a.m. because it was driving erratically. The Honda took off and the police followed in pursuit. The chase went on for 30 minutes. Finally, the Honda crashed into a home in the San Fernando Valley.
At the time of the crash, everyone inside the house was sleeping. No one was hurt. Residents reported that the Reseda car crash sounded like an earthquake. The driver was injured, suffering several broken bones as a result of the accident. According to police, the suspect is a parolee. He faces charges such as felony evading and driving under the influence.
This particular accident was unusual since the driver hit a house, rather than another car. In situations such as this, where a driver hits a house or other solid object, the driver could be held responsible not only for any injuries they cause, but also for damages to the structure.
There are unfortunately a very high number of automobile accidents in California each year. In some years, California’s fatalities from automobile accidents amount to 10 percent of the entire number of fatal crashes in the entire country.
